General Surgery -
Worked as “Resident in Surgery” from 1991 - 1995 in the Department of Surgery at K.G. Medical College, Lucknow and acquired experience in all the broad specialties and superspecialties related to surgery.
This included plastic surgery (2 months), cardio-thoracic surgery (2 months), neurosurgery, surgical oncology (8months), endocrine surgery and nuclear medicine (4 months), paediatric surgery (4 months), urology (4 months), trauma and critical care besides general surgical work. Conducted routine and emergency operations under supervison and independently along with outdoor and indoor ward work. Teaching experience of two years during the term as Junior Resident. Attended all the postgraduate seminars and case presentations. Passed MS (General Surgery) in first attempt.
Plastic Surgery -
Worked in the Post Graduate Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as Senior Resident I, II and III Yr. from 4th January 1995 to 31st December 1997. Worked as Registrar in the department of plastic surgery and looked after teaching, hospital work and research activities in the department from January 1998 to November 2003. During stay in the superspeciality programme of the department – Attended to all academic activities actively. Teaching experience of five years as Senior Resident in the department. Performed routine and emergency duties regularly. Performed & assisted all major & minor operations in routine & emergency. Submitted thesis entitled “STUDY OF NASAL DEFORMITY IN CLEFT LIP”. Part of thesis work entitled “PROGRAMME EVALUATION AND REVIEW TECHNIQUE IN PRIMARY CORRECTION OF CLEFT LIP NOSE DEFORMITY USING COMPUTER AIDED DIGITISATION “ was awarded Owen Cole Memorial award and Scholarship of the 8th International Congress on Cleft Palate and Related Craniofacial Anomalies held at Singapore from 7-12 September, 1997.
Paper on “Primary correction of cleft lip nose deformity” was awarded the Association of Plastic Surgeon’s of India Best Paper Prize for 1998. Poster on “Nasal sill augmentation in adult incomplete cleft lip nose deformity using superiorly based turn over orbicularis oris muscle flap: An anatomical approach” was awarded the Kammath Memorial Best Poster Prize in the 33rd national conference of APSI held at Calcutta in 1998.
Awarded the Craniofacial fellowship at the International Craniofacial Institute, Dallas, Texas, USA from 1999 to 2000. Had first hand operative experience and exposure in state of the art craniofacial procedures. These included surgery for craniosynostosis, frontal meningocoeles, intracranial tumors, congenital facial sydromes including Tessier’s clefts, hemifacial microsomia and other similar syndromes. Conducted a research project on development of distraction devices for correcting midface hypoplasia. Working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at KGMU since 2003. Actively involved in clinical, teaching and research work at the university. Clinically have developed many techniques, innovations in the field of plastic surgery. The specialized areas of interest have been craniofacial and cosmetic surgery. Actively involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students coming to the department for teaching rotations. Active research work is currently being performed in the areas of cell culture for treating wounds and device development for craniofacial distraction.
Awarded the American Society of Maxillofacial surgeons and Plastic Surgery Education Foundation International scholarship in 2006-2007. Visited centres of excellence in craniofacial surgery in United States.

Joined the Department of Plastic Surgery and Burns at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences on July 1, 2013 as Professor.
Started the department including activation of the wards, operation theatre complex and outpatient department. The indoor wards were commissioned in November 2014 while the operation theatre was commissioned in November 2015.
The department offers full plastic and reconstructive surgery services including microvascular surgery, hand surgery, cosmetic surgery, craniofacial surgery, oncoplastic reconstruction, brachial plexus surgery besides general plastic surgery.
